Background Information: wikipedia & wikia
Personality:
Since birth, Shionne has been under the influence of a terrible affliction, referred to as her "thorns." Whenever anyone came too close, they would inexplicably be struck by a near-debilitating pain, stopped only by physically retreating further away from her, condemning her to a life of solitude from the very beginning. Her outward personality reflects these circumstances as one would expect, and she comes off as cold and unfeeling as she keeps people at arms length, both figuratively and literally. As expected of most Renans, she does at first look down her nose at the Dahnans, appearing snobby or even condescending, though this changes quickly over time. Even still, her words are usually precise and curt, cutting to the chase and avoiding unnecessary pleasantries— something our protagonist Alphen tries to overcome by getting to know her as their journey together begins. Casual conversation isn't something that comes easily to her, and Shionne expresses her confusion over his desire and motivations to engage such a thing, reminding him there wasn't anything to gain in getting to know her better. She makes it clear that she is only along for the ride because of her mission, taking down the Renan lords one by one— and won't be distracted by anything else.
Shionne is closed off from others, mostly quiet or withdrawn when getting to know her, often employing a "don't ask, don't tell" kind of attitude. While this is an obvious result of her malady— it may also be because of the situation she's found herself in. As a Renan among Dahnans, she has certainly put her foot in her mouth more than once, and found herself a target of contempt for awhile, once Rinwell joined the party. In response, she mostly turned the other cheek to any glares or scathing words (though certainly wasn't above a sarcastic retort here and there—) a hint towards her lack of camaraderie towards her fellow Renans.
As her shell begins to crack however, the personality that she tries to keep concealed has a way of peeking through. Those biting remarks about a lack of efficiency in battle stem from concern for the well-being of her comrades; she chastises others because she cares— even if she isn't yet ready to admit it. When praised, complimented, or genuinely thanked, Shionne's circuitry actually tends to become uncharacteristically overloaded. Alphen especially, as she states, "isn't good for the heart" when partaking in any of the above. She does seem to appreciate the finer things in life, the importance that she places on fashion or accessorizing is a testament to a Renan's lifestyle, dedicating one of the game's first dungeons to obtaining her base outfit. She also has an attraction to things that scale towards the 'cute' end of the spectrum, blushing when she hints towards it...
Although she has an appetite that would eat anyone out of house and home, until the early-midway point, she doesn't have much experience cooking for herself. After obtaining a rather simple recipe however, she does express a desire to learn how to cook— though she asks for discretion from Kisara as they set out to the task. She takes the lesson seriously, complying with the orders to call her "captain" during their training. Arguably, this desire to perform well in the culinary art(e)s came from a place of wanting to prove a certain someone wrong... Revenge is, again, a strong motivator for Shionne.
She is generous with her healing artes, offering her skills to travelers along their path who have found themselves injured, belying that caring and generous personality she tries so hard to deny. As easily as she finds it to help others in a position of need however, she is equally bad at accepting or asking for help herself— choosing instead to adopt the "conceal, don't feel" way of life. She keeps her own pain and worries hidden, along with some hurtful truths— to the point of it becoming physically impossible.
In battle, she is a calculatedmartesman marksman, which lends itself to the belief that she is no stranger to having to fight her way through. She is confident and capable, often giving orders to leave the flying-type enemies to her, as they're her specialty. She is strong-minded and strong-willed, making it clear that while the Blazing Sword lies housed within her body, that it is not allowed to be used without her say so. While others with far more sense might shy away from the prospect of gaining frightening power, Shionne instead embraces it, not understanding their hesitation. This may be in no small part due to the Crown Contest engagement that Rena regularly takes part in, in order to choose their new "Sovereign"— the very tournament she has set out to put an end to. She is, especially in the beginning, unwaveringly focused on this mission, prepared to ally herself with Dahnans even in order to achieve it. Her motivations for this at first are unclear, but she is certainly hell-bent on seeing it through, to the point of acting rashly— as seen during her attempt on the lord of Elde Menancia, though she has come a long way since then.
Following the death of a comrade, Shionne's reaction can be seen as apathetic at first, but there is meaning behind her words, giving rise to the idea that death and sacrifice are something that she takes very seriously. Due to her standoffish nature, even Alphen remarked that he was sure she would have something scathing to say about those that have died for their cause, but she states plainly that anyone that is dedicated to dying for what they believe in shouldn't be mocked. Although the party may not know it yet, this hits painfully close to home for her, as she has lived most of her life resigned to a similar fate.
Having been plagued by visions of a dark, endless oblivion all her life, Shionne has long accepted that her death at the hands of her curse is inevitable. But true to her driving force, the idea that she could take her thorns with her on her way out is what spurred her entire quest for the Renas Alma (which she believed would "burn them (and her) away from the inside"). The twist that she never saw coming however... was the feelings that she began to experience as she spent time with the others. Her heart gradually opened towards them, and try as she might have to deny it, every one of them endeared themselves in their own way, until the painful truth was clear. Shionne realized that she no longer had any desire to die, now that they had all given her a reason to live. She wrestled with these revelations quite literally up until nearly the very end, when it finally all came crashing down, finding herself unable to shoot Alphen and make an escape, like she had threatened. Throughout her journey with the others, the black and white world they had all been born into seemed to suddenly explode with colour, and possibility.

Suitability & Plans:
Songerein in particular allows for a unique duality when playing Shionne, the potential to both give and take away her thorns. With that in mind, I am hoping for opportunities in which she can explore a physical closeness with others within the dreamscape and how that will change and shape her character... while still having to live with the harsh reality of her curse being ever-present in the waking world. Her mental landscape is also something to be explored, keeping in mind that her thorns and the terrible visions that come with are all housed within. Although she has made strides in coming to the realization that the crippling loneliness of her past does not need to be her future, those fears are still alive within her— nightmares may allow her a chance to either deal with this, or become consumed by it.
The world also provides her with a unique "clean slate" of sorts, where it doesn't matter if you're a Dahnan or a Renan... in that same vein, travelling to a different world isn't a foreign concept for the party in Arise and Shionne in particular, being that she is "from Lenegis." Thanks to her in game development up until now as well, she has come to realize that she really does want to live, and get to know others, and have them know her... Tossing her at anyone that would feed her voracious appetite would be excellent, especially with the comedic aspect of just how much she can put away. Providing others with fashion advice they may not even have asked for, or learning and exploring new recipes would all be great segue into CR building, too!

Abilities & Inventory:
ARTES.
MARKSMAN.
Shionne has mastered the arte of the gun.
She may or may not be the embodiment of the "I'm a healer, but—" meme.
HEALING.
Very gifted in healing artes! Both party members and random passers-by along the way remark that her skills are a cut above the rest. Given how Namco decided to punish us with CP as a game mechanic however, she isn't an infinite well of heals, and will let you know when she's going to have to throw in the towel when she gets overworked!
THORNS.
A curse that takes the shape of thorny protrusions on "vine" like tendrils, made up of dark astral energy. They cause agonizing physical pain to anyone that lays a hand on her, though their range does have the capacity to extend further than that. For ease of other players, I will mostly keep this consequence contained to a direct touch, unless otherwise stated in events or dreamshifts. The thorns also seem particularly powerful when Shionne mentally deteriorates...
Eventually, they will bring about the end of the world(s), unless some direct intervention is made.
FIRE MASTER CORE (imbedded ver.) + BLAZING SWORD.
Shionne started her big day out by stealing the Fire Master Core for her own gain. Unfortunately for her, she was unable to use the weapon that formed from it due to its literal flaming nature, and instead chose to embed it directly w ithin her body thanks to (blah blah—) magic! A blazing sword that manifests from pure fire energy is housed within the core, powerful but deadly. And while she cannot wield it herself, she also doesn't want it used without her permission.
MAIDEN.
By her canon point, it has been revealed that Shionne is the current Maiden, a counterpart to the Sovereign and intended to be used during a ceremony tied to the Astral Energy of the twin worlds. While it is the Sovereign that conducts most of the arte manipulation, her task mostly lies with ensuring that power remains in check. When in use, the power of the maiden manifests as a glowing white glyph behind her, and has been utilized to neutralize her thorns as a temporary measure, as well.INVENTORY
· Noble Scarlet, current armour/outfit
· Sclopetum Rene, Rifle
· Fire Master Core
· Peach Gel x3
· Orange Gel x2
